I got a special treat tonight on the Colbert, one that I really never expected and I was a little silly in how giddy I was, but hey, there you have it.

Woohoo! )

For long-time Colbert viewers, you know that Ric Ocasek is featured occasionally as part of Stephen's go-to-squad (he's currently out trying to find Stephen Jr. with a few others (Bobby and Killer), I believe, but got waylaid in Vegas lured by the gaming there). And of course, Paulina is Ric's wife. Anyhoo, when I was so delighted with Paulina on her way, way, way too short stint on Dancing with the Stars (grr), I wished that Stephen would cover her somehow because of the connection, and he sometimes covers media stuff like DwtS. Well, he did do a little bit the night after she was voted off, which I loved. But YAY!! I just read that Paulina will actually be a full interview guest on April 18, no doubt for her debut novel -- which is getting great reviews! I'm quite excited. So Paulina fans who were entranced with her personality on Dancing with the Stars, try and check out The Colbert Report on the 18th if you don't normally watch it. I'm sure it will be a real treat.

I know it's so not my best work, and I may look to find something better, but I've wanted to do some riff on this forever and I finally did today. So ... HEE!

Found this video of Colbert getting down. Quite, quite a joy to watch.

Colbert Don't Feel Like Dancin' v.2 (An extra clip was just edited into the first version.)

So I regularly watch The Colbert Report, and I regularly find it quite, quite amusing. Last night's show with Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem (the cooking segment) was quite a highlight and I thought a segment hadn't been that funny in a while and it would be tough to top. And then came tonight. Oh. My. God. Tears, people. Literally, I was crying. I was literally crying I was laughing so damn hard.

Admittedly, I am a sci-fi geek.

We got us the the "On Notice Board" Generator, and now someone has made The ThreatDown Generator. AWESOME!!!!

Eeeeee!!! Long Live Colbert!!!

I found a link to the picture on TWOP, cleaned it up a bit to my liking and here it is. And hee! I made an icon!! Heehee!

Jon and Stephen! Aah! )

Someone (pretty please!) has got to have a screencap of Jon Stewart with his hands on his face in the bg with Stephen looking depressed face forward from last night's show! Please, does someone have it. I was almost in tears, I was laughing so hard!!!

Stephen Colbert was on Letterman last night and while overall amusing, there was one line in particular that had me cracking up. When asked to confirm by Letterman who attended the White House Correspondents Dinner, he replied: "The entire White House press corp, anyone who's anyone in Washington and President Bush."

Heeheeheeheee!! How do I love Colbert!

I've been searching around some more and have found out why it didn't get my attention until now as a rush to get it.

Also, according to the Gawker poll, (with links to the transcript/video if the links in my entry below don't work), the results so far about the night are as follows:

Q: Was Stephen Colbert's White House Correspondents' Dinner performance ...

"One of the most patriotic acts I've witnessed of any individual," or
87.9% (9701 votes)

Not really that funny?
12.1% (1341 votes)

Hell yeah!

As a Colbert fan, I knew about this, but today was the first day that I was able to sit down and watch it, as well as read the commentary on it. I think that Editor & Publisher did a great job in covering why this has struck such a chord. And especially made a wonderful case by pointing out the blindness of the press by comparing the complete nonreaction from the press to Bush's WMD skit two years ago. For me, I was most pleased simply by the fact that he stood up and did this RIGHT IN FRONT OF BUSH! How many frustrated Americans would give their eyetooth to be able to point out what Bush has done so wrong? A lot and Stephen Colbert did it. He did it!

I was able to find the torrent at mininova of the speech, but you can also watch it on RP from C-spans -- here is the search results page, just click on the 2nd search result. Colbert White House Correspondents Dinner Video.

I know the internet has been abuzz about this and if anyone can link to other articles of interest regarding this, I would appreciate seeing them.

I honestly don't know how I enjoyed late nights before I found The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert. Informative, funny and full of "truthiness." Brilliant.
