Absolutely. It totally, totally works.

- It explains the whole WTFuckery of the River Song arc without messing up the Doctor/Rose love story.

- It explains how River can have met the Doctor if David is gone.

- It explains the cracky-way that River described the Doctor in a way that was wholly unrecognizable to us.

- It doesn't actually contradict any canon.

- The little things CAN be explained away somehow ... like, oh, the Doctor's name I came up with one alternative in your entry (http://pluckyyounggirl.livejournal.com/27308.html): if MDoc says something that makes the Doctor realize he's the one who meets River, so he tells him his name with the punishment of the Oncoming Storm if he tells anyone but this one woman, because if RS doesn't know his name, all of the events -- including saving Donna, the universe, oh and giving Rose and a version of him a happy ever after!!! - wouldn't happen.)

It's brilliant! Oh, come on, Rusty do it!! (Or, erm have done it!!!)
