Jason Dohring as a Vampire?! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THe fact that Jason Dohring landed a role on an upcoming fall series is making the news and I had to share in the joy.
Quote:I also supremely love the fact that it's a WB/Silver TV productions because it really shows how impressed WB and Joel Silver were with him. YAY!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!
"Veronica Mars" alum Jason Dohring is reuniting with the show's producers, Warner Bros. TV and Silver Pictures, with a co-starring role on "Moonlight," their new series for CBS. The drama centers on a private investigator (Alex O'Loughlin) who is a vampire. Dohring will play ancient vampire Josef. He replaces 60-year-old Rade Serbedzija, who played the part in the pilot presentation before the character was reconceptualized as a young, mischievous hedge-fund trader. Dohring, who played Veronica Mars' (Kristen Bell) on-and-off boyfriend Logan on the critically praised CW drama, is the second new addition to "Moonlight" cast, along with recently cast Sophia Myles.

That's all I've got for now. :)) And I don't care how immature that makes me sound. :)

Oh, and
I'm just saying. :)

JD is a no-brainer obviously, but Shannon Lucio (cute red-headed Lindsay from the "O.C.") to Sophia Myles (slightly older, more classic beauty) seems weird to me. Then again, JD's part lost about 45 years, so... ;)

I think they're trying to retain the GW crowd till they get to Numb3rs. Now, I don't watch GW, so I don't know what the appeal is, but maybe they see it as bridging the gap there. Sophia Myles is way more Diane Farr than Shannon Lucio is.
I don't know. I'm just spitballing.

Aww, geez...well, I'm horrible at determining ages. ;p Then again, Lucio played a red-headed stepchild, and Myles was a freaking historical figure, so...not exactly similar roles. ;)
Sophia Myles is way more Diane Farr than Shannon Lucio is.
That's a good point, actually -- although that's assuming they can get past the word "vampire." Which I'm still not sure if they can. But yes, Myles at least looks older.
(And maybe David Tennant will guest star, given their personal relationship...hee hee ;p )

If you are, so am I. I thought Myles had 10 years on Lucio.
although that's assuming they can get past the word "vampire."
Well, here's the thing. Vampires in romance fiction is very big now (aka paranormal romance). I can see a lot of people wanting to see an onscreen version of that.
What audience do you think CBS is going for on Friday nights? What kinds of numbers in what kinds of demos are they hoping for?
Can you imagine Tennant and Dohring onscreen together? *head explodes*

Ooh. Interesting. See, I feel like CBS is probably the most reasoned network -- they're not going to put something on unless they feel there's a demand for it. Though I rolled my eyes when the WB premiered "Supernatural" -- but their rationale was horror movies make huge amounts of money, so there's an audience. And they were right.
What audience do you think CBS is going for on Friday nights?
Older women -- although they would most likely be the ones reading this romance fiction, I'm guessing. Still, I think ML is going to face some tough competition for that audience. Tom Selleck is joining "Las Vegas," and ABC's got that "Women's Murder Club" -- about an all-female crime-solving team, that would seem to appeal to that audience, as well.
"Close to Home" got sacked for having horrible demos -- so with the re-casting of JD's role, they clearly want ML to go younger. But they evened out his presence with Myles, IMHO -- who, as we've found out, definitely looks older than she is. ;p
What ML needs, and what GW has, is a multi-"generational" appeal. I don't mean families watch it together (although I know a few families who do watch GW together) but appeal to women/viewers of multiple ages. Which is where I think CTH ultimately failed, because it had no younger viewers, even though it was a pretty young lawyer with a new baby. Same thing happened to "Joan of Arcadia." Just 'cause they were "kids" didn't mean "kids" wanted to watch them.
Can you imagine Tennant and Dohring onscreen together?
Oh, man... Oh, the charm and charisma and snark!! ;) They'd play so well off each other...sigh... :)

I don't watch GW either (replaced JoA and LMoonves insulted JoA in the process, so yes, I'm bitter and petty about that), so I don't know the appeal.
Just based on images, Myles has a more classic beauty, whereas Lucio looks kinda like a tomboyish teenybopper. Also, I recal "Tristan & Isolde" getting a HUGE push on the WB when it came out, so perhaps they have been waiting for something for her since?

From what I've heard, JS is not too fond of La Bell (but who can blame him?)

- Moonlight (I actually was VERY unimpressed with the clip, but the premise really gets to me, so I'll keep an ear out and maybe give it a shot.

I remember you writing that list, I finally saw a clip of 'Pushing Daises' and thought that was interesting, especially visually.

Apart from all our justified fangirling around, he's a brillian young actor and it's impossible not to be charmed by his acting and his scenic presence. I mean, come on! :D
