Yeah but that fits for me. The Doctor never used to talk about companions after they left. Adric turned up as an illusion after he died - and Romana got mentioned once.
Plus it would so totally be in character for him not to talk about her anymore. She'd go live in the bottom draw with the things that hurt too much to talk about. She's gone now - not coming back - so why reopen the wound.
It also serves no narrative purpose - she's been brought up so often in the last couple of years so that they could bring her back (forshadowing) since they're not likely to do that again - there's no narrative point in bringing her up anymore.
