Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles has been officially canceled.

Damnit.

Dollhouse got renewed. I'm happy about that, but also very, very sad because the news was that Fox was leaning towards renewing either DH or Terminator. Obviously, I would have much preferred T:SCC even though I do love DH. I adore T:SCC. In my opinion, it's the best show on television right now and, oh, it's just so sad because it's brilliant tv. Ah well. But yay for Dollhouse and more Enver Gjokaj.

ETA:!! AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Castle and Better Off Ted were renewed. Yay, yay, yay, yayyers!!!!!!!!!! These are two of my new favorite shows. So very happy about that. Also thrilled about Lie To Me being renewed. It still has problems and kinks that need to be worked out, but I really do love it and Tim Roth is just, ooh, marvelous.

That leaves T:SCC (still a long shot, but not canceled ... yet, sigh). And, hmm, so they DID renew Scrubs. I do love this show, but it had SUCH a fantastic finale, I don't know. I'll still watch it, but I kinda wish they hadn't renewed it. The entire season was a wrap-up to a series finale, so it feels kinda weird. Hmm.

Oh, yeah, and there was this 'Doctor Who' news ... )

Non-fandom-specific related. I DO NOT understand why people do not realize that any reaction/comment about spoilers/an episode BEFORE the cut is a spoiler. I've been casually spoiled about two significant things twice in the last week because based on the comment (and reading that poster's journal regularly), I knew exactly what happened. Plus, huge, emotional responses -- even without specifics -- SPOIL viewers who haven't seen stuff yet. It's just ... sigh, frustrating. If you're going to talk about a show, your strong emotional reaction, or confirm a supposition you've made countless times actually playing out BEFORE THE CUT? You're spoiling.

Okay, so I'm not crazy. I just posted in reply to someone on my lj and over at [livejournal.com profile] harper47's that the upcoming movie may positively affect my beloved show's chances for survival, and lookee what I read over at some TV prognosis site!
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles -- Fox absolutely loves Terminator... but Fox also absolutely hates poor ratings. However, Terminator has one great thing going for it--McG's Terminator: Salvation opens in theaters in May. If it's a hit, it could restrengthen the brand and give this promising show new life.

Prognosis: It sounds silly to say a TV show's fate relies on a movie's performance, but let's face it--the television industry is as wacky as they come.
My fingers are crossed; my fingers are crossed!

This show can NOT be canceled. It is so very, very good. The characters are so rich, so full of depth; the acting is superb. The story, the arcs are so intriguing. I have NO idea what is going on but I'm so utterly spellbound by watching the story unfold. Tonight's episode? Just another amazing one. This show keeps knocking 'em out.

About tonight's episode ... )
arabian: (Summer)
The ratings are in for Dollhouse and Terminator: Behold the glory!!
Predictions of Dollhouse getting crushed did not come to pass. The much-anticipated sixth episode finally arrived and performed similarly to last week when it had 4.3 million and a 1.6 rating with 18-49s. Last night it had 4.13 million and a 1.5/5 (rating/share) with adults 18-49. It doesn’t look like either the basketball or the the Battlestar Galactica finale (and we probably won’t see its numbers until Tuesday) had much of an impact on Dollhouse.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles actually added viewers from last week when it averaged 3.5 million and a 1.2/4 with adults 18-40 to 3.65 million and a 1.3/5 last night.
Oh, I'm so, so excited about this. By improving on rating again, it's beginning to look like they actually have have a shot at surviving. Please, please, please, please!!!!

Right now, Monday and Friday nights are THE best nights for television, in my opinion. Monday has the comedy racket down wonderfully with The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, while Friday has the drama hitting all cylinders with Dollhouse and Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles (not to mention how good Friday Night Lights is once more). Below, a looooooooong ramble on how awesome both DH and T:SCC are.

Spoilers for 'Dollhouse' -- especially the last episode. )

Oh, 'Terminator' how I love you so!! )

So I finally watched Dollhouse and Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles ... and my long-winded (per usual) thoughts ...

So, I'm totally still adoring The Big Bang Theory and now I have even MORE reason!!!!!
This has been a big week for The Big Bang Theory's nerd herd. First, they score their best ratings ever, and now they're getting to rub elbows with frakkin' Summer Glau!

The Sarah Connor Chronicles siren will play herself in the March 9 episode, the set-up of which already has me ROFWLing: A train trip to San Francisco takes a major detour when Leonard, Sheldon, Wolowitz, and Raj discover that their favorite sci-fi actress in all the land is on board. But the fanboy frenzy quickly gives way to a heated mass debate when they realize one of them will have to approach her -- but who?

It's not too difficult to figure out how this cheeky cross-over came about, provided you know this little detail: The Big Bang Theory and Sarah Connor Chronicles (which returns this Friday) are both produced by Warner Bros.

This is what we in the TV biz refer to as extremely positive synergy.

SQUEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm an episode behind on Boston Legal so I'm not watching the series (sniff, sniff) finale tonight. I figure I'm going to stretch it out this week to savor the end. And I just didn't get to Prison Break yet. So the Monday shows I DID watch!

Quick TV thoughts, no really, they ARE quick! (Go me!) ...

Law & Order (No spoilers) - FABULOUS season-opener. Really, just kick-ass. I love this show so much. So, so, so much. And while I miss Jesse L. Martin, I've always loved Anthony Anderson and he's doing great. Just great, great season opener. And the last line was AWESOME!!! (I wouldn't be surprised if they did dub two versions of it, though. Still awesome.)

TheAmazing Race (No spoilers) - I enjoy this, of course, simply because it IS The Amazing Race, but other than liking Toni/Dallas, I don't really care about any team, so I don't really care who wins. I just know that I don't want the Frats or Sarah/Terrence to win. And while I do like Toni/Dallas (I know you love 'em, Gerrie), I don't like *like* them. I dunno, it's been the least I'm-involved-in-emotionally TAR ever. Oh well. I still do enjoy it.

Prison Break )

The Mentalist (No spoilers) - Good show; it's not earth-shattering, it's not obsessive; it's not appointment television, it's just good and enjoyable. Same as usual.

HIMYM is just getting better and better. A few specifics for this episode ... behind the cut )

Terminator gets some thoughts too ... )

Not getting to Prison Break tonight, and I still have Brothers & Sisters from last night, The Eleventh Hour from the night before, the last two episodes of Boston Legal AND I didn't get to the rewatch-review of "The Doctor Dances" (Doctor Who). Not to mention the three -- count 'em, THREE -- episodes of Dexter, Four -- count 'em, FOUR! -- episodes of Gossip Girl (okay, I'm going to zip through those as I actually won't watch every scene, but still ...) sitting on my computer. (Heck, I'm three episodes behind on Merlin and I'm almost thinking I should just give that one up. Sigh.)

The baptism ceremony of my two nephews and niece (my sister joined a new church, Episcopalian, they really like it, so thus the baptism ceremony) really ate so much of my weekend time up. It was worth it, though, I loved all of the family time, but man, is my tv-watching schedule hurting from it. Sigh.

On the heels of CBS' The Mentalist, which thus far is the TV season's biggest freshman hit, getting an order for a half-dozen additional scripts, two other new-ish series have received perhaps-significant votes of confidence.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, technically a second-year show but one still anxiously awaiting a back-nine order, has been given the go-ahead for two more scripts — this in the wake of increasing ratings in its fifth week.

Yay, I'm thrilled about this. Woohoo!! (And, a yay for The Mentalist too. It's such an enjoyable show, and I re-iterate to all on my flist, if you like Bones, you'll probably like this if for no reason beyond the two leads' relationship. And besides, Simon Baker, is dishy.

Woohoo!! Thanks to the ALWAYS awesome [livejournal.com profile] hiddeneloise I got the Terminator TV show on DVD (her birthday prezzie to me!). I'm so excited I want to watch it NOW!!! But alas, it must wait till this weekend to rewatch. Squee!!!!

And, so cool!, checking out the special features there's a "Summer Glau Dance Rehearsal." SCORE!!! Ooh, they know who some of their target audience is.
arabian: (World of Squee!)
Yes, it had the help of the football game definitely and it might freefall tonight, but still ...

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at a hefty 18.29 million viewers and a 7.6/18 in the demo from 8-9 p.m.

And as most people I'm reading actually did like it a lot, hopefully many viewers will stick around and this one might actually be a hit!!!
arabian: (Summer)
So good; as good as I remembered it. I know its chances aren't good being on Fox and all, but I'm hoping that the writer's strike might actually help it. Twould be awesome if that were the case. Admittedly, it could totally suck in upcoming episodes, but I so loved the pilot that I have hope it will continue in its awesomeness. Since I wrote up a little review for this based on the pilot way back in the beginning of September, I'm just going to post the T:SCC review again.

I love Summer Glau. )
