Julianne won CMA Top New Artist
Apr. 6th, 2009 02:27 amOkay, it was voted on by fans, but she still won, so yay for Julianne!! And her acceptance speech was adorable. Love her!! :) And she got a standing ovation from the audience, country music's best. Go Julianne!!! And for the occasion, I finally made a Juliane-only icon (and cleaned out some other ones, sigh -- give me more icon space, lj!!!). And now I'm listening to her CD again!
New Brooke song!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!
Feb. 26th, 2009 06:50 pmIt's called "Hold Up My Heart" -- I just purchased it off of I-Tunes (never let it be said that I do not financially support my Idol loves). I really like it; it's spare and simple, sweet with Brooke's signature voice. It's just so Brooke. Won't break any records, but I like it. SQUEE!! She's going to be performing it tonight on Idol supposedly. Can't wait!! :)
ETA: Seriously, I've been listening to this non-stop over and over and I just love it, love it!! It's so sing-a-long-able to.

I fully intend to buy the CD, so I felt no qualms in downloading the leaked version.
( My thoughts on each song, including the one (of two) bonus songs that have leaked from the Deluxe edition. )

I'm babysitting the niece/nephews tonight and my sister hasn't heard/seen the new Kelly song/video, so I thought I'd show her. Well, the kids liked it, so while getting ready for bed I put the video on and just decided that since despite the fact that I've watched it five or six times, I still love it so, I'd post about it.
( As the title said ... long, rambling squee over Kelly's new video, 'My Life Would Suck Without You.' )

BEYOND aadorable interview with Kate & Leo from EW! Seriously, if you don't "aww" at least once while reading this interview, you don't have a heart. For reals!I heart them so much!!! But I'm one of those whose never thought of them hooking up though because they're so adorably brother-sister/best friends.
Re: Top Chef -- no spoilers, just want to say, man, Jeff is SO yummy!! I swear he gets hotter every week.
Finally, I must confess that I'm rather really, really enjoying Britney Spears' new CD, "Circus." It's actually really good! (Well, most of it. "Mmm, Papi" rather sucks. But "Unusual You" and "Blur" are gorgeous, and "If You Seek Amy" is fun. I know, I know, I'm 12, but it IS.)

Ahh! Music and Lyrics!!!
May. 31st, 2008 06:34 pmI just watched Music and Lyrics -- cute film, but my favorite thing about it was the music. So I just went looking and found the soundtrack which actually DOES feature the songs from the music sung by the actors. This is the AWESOME!!! And I've found my next week's listening-to-music.
I'm so ridiculously psyched about this!!! Ooh, listening to "Pop! Goes My Heart" right now!!!! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buy Brooke's Pre-AI CD!!
May. 3rd, 2008 09:52 pmIf anyone is interested (you should be, it's awesome!!) you can buy Brooke White's CD at her official website (that doesn't have much right now on it), and you can also get it off of I-Tunes -- where it's doing pretty decently. (#48 in all albums, #17 of pop albums. GO BROOKE!!)
Anyhoo, to get it at her official site, go here. The CD is called "Songs from the Attic," and it is awesome!

Okay, so I finally got around to watching all of the performances. I know it's long gone and over, but I HAVE to give my two cents worth (which is more like twenty dollars worth) about this because of all of the outrage and commentary over the performance night and results. And I have to say that there IS rightful outrage over Carly leaving over a performer who gave a disastrous performance and SHOULD have gone based on that performance ... if this show was ACTUALLY a singing competition (which it's not, but more on that later). That performer is, however, NOT Brooke White ... by ANY stretch of imagination. At all.
Lots (and lots) of thoughts on the songs performed, the performances themselves, flubbed lyrics, my rankings, etc. ( behind the cut. )

Made a new Brooke siggy + new songs
Apr. 12th, 2008 02:33 pmI made a Brooke signature for IdolForums and I love it, so I wanted to share it. I also have the rest of her songs from her album (Gah, I wish is was available for a normal price and not $75.00 used!). If anyone is interested in the songs, just me know and I'll add them to this thread.
Anyhoo, here's my siggy:

I'm so happy for him (and me) because I love his voice, his lyrics, his music. Yay, yay, yay. Take that! Randy, Simon and Paula!!!!!!! (Ooh, if it wasn't for Brooke, I'd SOOOO be done with AI this year.) Now just give me some good Danny Noriega news and I'll be on AI cloud 9!

Kelly Clarkson's new album: My December
Jun. 28th, 2007 11:47 amI did listen to the leaked stuff, but since it's officially out now, I thought I'd post my thoughts. I picked the CD up at midnight at Walmart because I am obsessed. LOL!

From hitsdailydouble:
RCA SUPPORTS KELLY: Despite rumor-mongering from the U.K. Daily Star and other online sources, there is no dispute between Kelly Clarkson and the RCA Music Group. These rumors began after the SBMG International meetings in Las Vegas a couple of weeks back and were based on an inaccurate report about Clive Davis' presentation of Kelly's new LP at the confab. Sources who were there insist the chatter is not true. In fact, Davis specifically stated that Kelly is “one of the top four artists at Sony BMG” and wanted to ensure that she is treated as such. There are absolutely no plans to scrap the LP. Meanwhile, Richard Palmese's promo team is working round the clock to deliver Kelly's first single, “Never Again,” to trigger the release of what all are convinced is a chart-topping album.
That's a relief.

Kelly's Album Scrapped?!?!?!!!!
May. 4th, 2007 07:21 amListening to the radio on the way home this morning and the DJ said that the rumors are flying that Kelly Clarkson played her album for Clive Davis and some other people and he completely ripped it apart and that it's been scrapped.
Well, I headed on over to ohnotheydidnt and sure enough there was a post on it from this source.

Quote:( My thoughts on it. )
Pop star Kelly Clarkson has reportedly scrapped her new album after label bosses weren't impressed with the record. The 25-year-old singer suffered a scathing attack from Sony BMG chief Clive Davis after he heard the new tracks, reports British newspaper the Daily Star. A source at the record company tells the paper, "It was an extraordinary presentation. Clive was absolutely merciless in his criticism of Kelly. "She's one of the biggest priorities on the label and her new songs were savaged." The American Idol winner has been working on the follow up to 2005's best selling album Breakaway for 18 months, but has reportedly gone back to the studio to work on new tracks.
American Idol: Melinda & Jordin
Apr. 24th, 2007 10:11 pmI really do love both of them and I really, really think the show wants them in the final two. They are two of the three best singers (Lakisha being the other one), but I think they're pushing Jordin over Lakisha because (a) she's on par vocally (although, technically, I think Lakisha is better, but Jordin has better diction when she sings) and (b) Lakisha comes across as stand-offish whereas Jordin is just so utterly delightful. As for Melinda/Jordin as the final two, I think Melinda is a better singer, but I think Jordin is more marketable and she too has got a fabulous voice ... and the former is WHY I think the judges are pimping her to a RIDICULOUS degree!

Favorite Songs of All Time Meme
Mar. 12th, 2007 08:03 amWell, sorta ... these are more the songs that when I heard them, I fell completely in love to the point that I played them ad nauseum, literally HOURS in a row. I'm not proud of some of the choices (Bob, I'm looking at you) but for whatever the reason, these songs CLICKED with me! They aren't all by my fave singers/groups (although, JG/KC are included) and in some cases, it's the only song by them I like (helloooo, Carrie!), but these songs are ones I can listen to over and over and over again and never get tired of them. I do not know why, but here they be.
( In no particular order. )
Since I realize that 15 is a lot more than such meme's generally are (but I couldn't cut my list), I'm dropping it to 7-15 for these seven people I'm tagging.
List seven to fifteen songs that you can listen to over and over again and love still despite any passage of time.

List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Live Journal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
I'm more into full musicals right now, so I'll list my seven from a couple of them:

- I Know the Truth (Aida)
- Good 'n Evil (Jekyll & Hyde)
- Someone Like You (Jekyll & Hyde)
- A New Life (Jekyll & Hyde)
