It's the fact that you call it a "diary." When you use that term, it conjures up a certain idea in a reader's mind. An idea of something Veronica would not do. At least the post-Lilly Veronica.
But I am not completely against the idea of her keeping some sort of a ... thing (LOL. I can't even name it, it would be so different from the regular diary).
