Final 'Veronica Mars'

I didn't watch it, but I discuss what others have and so there are spoilers. I'm not happy, but I'm actually a lot more content than I expected to be based on spoilers. Don't get me wrong, I still think the L/V story from the Madison thing (minus Heather) sucked BIG-TIME, but considering how much it sucked, I'm pretty durn okay with how it ended.
Again, I didn't watch it (haven't watched any of the final five), but from what I'm hearing, I'm as satisfied as possible considering the last five episodes.
Essentially, we got what I wanted with Duncan, and this time Rob can't screw it up by retconning it because he won't being writing any more episodes. Veronica looked at Logan and even though she was with the "nice guy" the realization was there for her and "nice guy" that Logan is the one she should be with. Maybe not everyone agrees with that, but enough people read that in the final bit there that I'm more than happy to accept that, because fanfic can happily flow from there. And because of that moment, I'm actually glad she and Shithead didn't break up. If they had, it would have been for some stupid, contrived reason because Rob would NEVER willingly, openly, obviously have Veronica flat-out say what that final scene described, so we never would have gotten that had they broken up. But because of what we did get, it's easy to believe that she and Piz will break up very soon, and eventually Veronica will wind up back with Logan, but based on Logan's attitude ... she actually WILL have to work her ass off to get him back and do a LOT of making up.
So, as horrible as it could have been, I'm content because Logan walked away with dignity. He may not have "love" with Parker, but he wasn't in love with her. She was rebound girl. He appears to have some self-love for the first time in a long time and that is even better. Veronica may be with the "good guy" but clearly he is not the one for her and many felt that the final look after Logan was her realization about that and Shithead realized it too, so, they wouldn't last for too long.
And, again, considering how shitty this has been for the last however long, I am damn pleased with that. And, very, very pleased that Veronica didn't have sex with Shithead, major fooling around sucks, but I don't buy for one second that had Veronica actually done the deed with Shithead, she wouldn't have thrown it in Logan's face at this point. So yay!!!
I may even eventually watch the Logan-non-Parker scenes sometime down the road now.

Date: 2007-05-23 08:28 am (UTC)She smiles at Logan and there's sort of a sparkle in her eye. And at the end of the fight as L/V interact, Piz is sort of looking disconcerted in the background (I actually thought CL did a really good job throughout that scene portraying Piz realizing right then the connection between L/V and that Veronica wasn't at all upset about what Logan did--especially after earlier in the episode Piz was very pacifist and made Veronica walk away from some other people that were taunting her, when she clearly didn't want to). Then Logan apologizes to Piz, and the look on Veronica's face is, to me, one of amazement, and she even watches him for a moment as he walks away. Only then does she look at Piz, and the looks they exchange are very telling.
Anyway, that was my long rambling way of backing you up.
I really think you should try to find that scene or at least caps of it so you can see for yourself.

Date: 2007-05-23 09:37 am (UTC)A number of the more horrible spoilers weren't true. I don't see any resemblance between Logan and Haaron. There's certainly no mention of him. There is no graphic sex between Piz and Veronica. No nudity, no hotness, just a few kisses. In fact V tells Logan she and Piz have not had sex. I don't know how then everyone including Logan and Dick describe it as a sex tape. OK I can see Logan not viewing the whole thing. But Piz later describes V's body as a wonderland. Barf!!
Also there's actually very little Logan in these last two hours-on the order of 5 minutes (and what seems like hours of Piz). I feel cheated. The last episode doesn't play the usual opening credits-so a new viewer wouldn't know that Logan is the male lead.
The mysteries are completely nonsensical. Jake Kane, CW, Leo are all wasted. There are creepy portraits of Lily and Duncan. I have no idea what RT was talking about when he described a *glorious* scene. WTF?
The good parts are Logan's two fights and walking away at the end.

Date: 2007-05-23 01:28 pm (UTC)Anyways, maybe I'm just satisfied enough because I had pictured worse scenarios in my head for them to go out on, and this wasn't too bad - I was fully prepared for that second fight to be so Aaronesque in nature, with Veronica completely horrified, that I was relieved when she smiled at him. It still sucks that they've ended the series without Veronica actually dealing with her trust issues with Logan or dealing with any real consequences for her reckless actions, but it doesn't feel like L/V are actually over, not by a long shot.

Exactly. I think that's it right there. It could have been -- and I was expecting -- SO much worse.

Date: 2007-05-23 08:27 pm (UTC)No, LoVe is not over. And Logan wasn't compared to Aaron. Considering these were my two biggest fears, I am actually pretty okay. LOL. Now, the rest of it was crap, but that's something I no longer care about. :)

Date: 2007-05-23 09:05 pm (UTC)I know. I am wondering now about that phrase in the script, "paradigm shifts." Remember that? We thought it would be when Veronica sees that Logan is just like Aaron. Turns out, she sees something completely different. :)
