Wow, I was not expecting that. DialIdol had Mel/Maks well in the lead. I'm half-happy, half-disappointed. Mel was by far the better dancer, and I liked that Julianne was a winner with Apolo. On the other hand, Maks has just been an ass in the press lately, and I love Julianne so I love that she's now a two-times-in-a-row winner too.

Eh. Lame season overall, but yay Julianne. But boy you could tell the judges' were not happy with the results.

Mel got totally fucked over by Maks, both his bizarre Euro-techno freestyle (he must be like KBell and not actually watch his own show, because... seriously?) and his even more bizarre desire to diss marie Osmond in the press despite America's obvious love for her. I read message boards where people who were going to vote for Mel changed their minds because they didn't want Maks to get the win. What a dick. However, his "You can call me Maks" reply to Mel's, "God!" is hands-down the best line I've heard on TV in years. My apologies to the WGA, but who needs writers?

Did you hear about Mark Ballas? I'm not going to go into it because I'm already writing it up for my journal, which I actually started a few days ago about how he's my new TV boyfriend, and that was before he proved himself to be the best boyfriend in the history of the universe, but seriously Jenn I am in tears right now. This was hands down the best episode of television I have ever seen. Period. End of story. Depudor can retire now and go live in a hole. Oh wait, she already did.

Fuck fuck fuck. I am off to find a Sabrina/Mark icon.

Uhm, I have NO clue what you're talking about in regards to Mark. All I know about him is (a) he's Julianne's ex-boyfriend (b) him, Derek and Julianne danced together when they were younger, (c) he's in a band or something with Derek, (d) he and Sabrina are dancing.

Sorry, I was bored silly by EVERY Mark/Sabrina routine so stopped watching anything with them a LONG time ago.

I thought I would sort of feel for Maks being DUMB in the media and feeling sorry (hopefully) for what he said, but nope. He kind of screwed up his chances. As for Julianne, I really think she deserves it. So PRETTY. And it's not her fault she has great chemistry with both partners thus far...or rumored chemistry. But so true, I bet.

You think? The judges certainly didn't seem happy at the finals, but they always seemed very effusive with Helio (part of the reason he won, IMHO).

I called a Helio win when he danced second, and consistently got the pimp spot, like...weekly. If Apolo's win was a team effort, this one was all Julianne. I think she had a lot less to work with this time around, and still pulled off a victory. :p

The first shot we got of them after the win, man, those smiles couldn't be more fake. Seriously.

Oh yeah, this was alllllllll Julianne. She spent so much of their routines, dancing around him, doing everything she could think of to cover his weaknesses, and it worked. And, you know, that's what the pro is supposed to do. If they can't learn the steps, mask it.

Ahh, I wasn't looking at the judges' faces after the winners were announced (I was actually wondering if Apolo was going to hand over the trophy, like Kelly did for Drew and Cheryl in S2. And then when Helio ran over to get hugs from his family, I wondered if Julianne would find Apolo. But, no. :x )

And, you know, that's what the pro is supposed to do. If they can't learn the steps, mask it.

Yeah, I kept hoping we would see Apolo out there at some point with Julianne, but it looked like only this year's dancers were on the floor, judges still when the celebration ended. Ah well.

Well I think the PTB wanted Helio to win. If they didn't they wouldn't have overpraised him so much. I think their initial plan this season was for Sabrina to win (she's Disney/ABC and a female) but when she got the boot I think they looked at the totals and decided on Helio.

I think that the PTB do NOT like Maks and adore Julianne. I think more women voted for Helio because they think he's cute (I just do not get it) and I think they decided to cater to the masses.

I'm just happy Mel at least got to second. And you could tell that she and Maks developed a deep, warm friendship. I do blame Maks for that lameass freestyle. You have to pander in this segment. Have to. So in a way it was his fault and Len practically crowned Helio on the finale night by saying he had both technique and showmanship. I think, in the end, people hated Marie, liked Helio and didn't like Mel's freestyle so they went with Helio. I read it all over the net yesterday.

Dial Idol had Helio ahead in raw numbers so I was expecting him to win.

In the end, it's just a reality show so I hope Mel has a kickass Spice girls tour and I'm thrilled I got to share her journey on this.

Oh, I agree they wanted him to win for all the reasons you claimed.

Also, I don't think Helio is that cute at all, and I got this vibe from some of their vids, that they didn't quite get along that well.

Maks SUCKS come finale night. Seriously, twice in a row he came up with crap. Now admittedly this freestyle wasn't as bad as last year's, but still, crap, Maks, crap!!!!! And he really turned a lot of people off with his comments last week. Maks, Maks, you may be hot as heck, but babe, you gotta think sometimes.

Ah, I didn't see the raw numbers. Someone just posted the overall results on ONTD (I didn't care enough to check myself). Well, I'm happy for Julianne, but I wasn't a Helio fan, still good for her. And I got to at least see Apolo! Yay! He's so cute.

Yes, I liked the little dig at Len for saying "this is the best season ever" from Drew and Apolo but I would have loved to see a retrospective of Apolo and Drew's best dances. Since they were there and all.

You know you can call it whatever you want - Karma, God, what goes around, comes around - but in the end if you act like an ass, you are seldom rewarded. I was so happy Maks seemed to be taking the high road this season but alas, his restraint broke down at the last minute. Oh well - he only said what everyone in the world (except a few deluded Osmonds) were thinking.

SO thrilled for Julianne! Two seasons in a row, good for her. Helio winning had as much to do with Julianne's fan base (and I'm certain she has a lot). I sure as heck didn't vote for Helio because he's the best dancer. I voted for him because I'm all about Julianne.

I have a feeling though that she might be getting too big for the show and might not be in the next season (personally, I hope she stays) to pursue greener pastures.

Yeah, I know she's not going on tour, but concentrating on her music. She was signed with Universal, has a single out in January, and the album is coming out in April (I think).
