Joining in the cavalcade of joy on my flist about the fact that Jason Dohring actually got another job. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I got most of the below info from my flist, especially [livejournal.com profile] annie_oakley.)

Here's a little news to kick start your day. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Dohring is coming back to TV in the much buzzed about HBO comedy series "Washingtonienne."

Produced by Sarah Jessica Parker and based on Jessica Cutler's book, "Washingtonienne" revolves around the professional and personal lives of three smart, sophisticated 28-year-old girls working on Capitol Hill. The show will follow the exploits of Jackie (Rachel Taylor), who moves to Washington, D.C. to pursue a career as a speechwriter but finds herself in a low-level job as a congressional staffer. She seeks guidance from a college friend (Bitsie Tulloch) who's living a quiet life with her boyfriend (David Furr), who has a professional crush on the senator for whom he works. And finally Laura (Amanda Walsh), a small-town girl whose workaholic ways often come at the expense of a social life and who is constantly defending her Republican views to her liberal friends.

Jason Dohring will play Spencer, a senior legislative assistant for the same senator for whom Jackie works.
Jason's role ...
Mid to late twenties/All Ethnicities--The Senior Legislative Assistant for the same U.S. senator Jackie works for, this 28 year old guy is the resident wunderkind of the office, having earned that status through sheer force of personality. He's charming and competitive, always ready with a witticism or historical reference to cut down his verbal sparring partner and assert himself as the cock of the walk. Looks wise, he's the type of guy who would never turn heads in a bar - he looks like he's spent his whole life indoors, at boarding school, an ivy league college, and now the office - but in D.C., where power determines desirability, he's considered a catch. But he's elusive, completely into himself and his career. Initially, Spencer makes the mistake of dismissing Jackie as a loud-mouthed underling and is subsequently floored as she nimbly scales the ladder of the D.C. power structure.

Just SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so, so, so, soooooooooo thrilled. Heck, with my potential new job, I can afford it. I might actually subscribe to HBO just for Jason instead of downloading!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't this just perfect for him?

I know!!!!!!!!!!!!! And loving him so, I'm hesitant to come out and say this is too:

"Looks wise, he's the type of guy who would never turn heads in a bar - he looks like he's spent his whole life indoors, at boarding school, an ivy league college, and now the office - but in D.C., where power determines desirability, he's considered a catch."

BUT, considering that while he is good-looking, he's not considered "movie-star" gorgeous (pfft, whatever), it's his charm, charisma and intensity that gets people to sit up and take notice. So that kinda works too.

Oh, I'm so excited for him!!!!!!

I agree. I'm happy he doesn't have what I call "pretty boy" looks. Stars like Hugh Grant, Patrick Dempsey are just too pretty. I don't find that attractive. Whereas stars like Jason, Joshua Jackson, looks that are more edgy are to me flat out more sexy than the Brad Pitt thing.

I'm hoping the writers are good and this show thrives and Jason gets some good notice from it.

It will definitely get notice with SPJ attached, here's hoping it's GOOD and as long as Jason has moments in the sun, he'll get attention. He's that good.

Oh, I'm so hopeful!!! :D

I know, I know, I know!! I'm just grinning and breaking out in exclamations of "OHMYGOD!!!" I'm so thrilled for him (and for me because I get to watch him again). And on HBO -- you know, he'll be f-bombing!

Yeah, I thought of you and how broken up you would be at the thought of hearing Jason use profanity.

Woe.

Since someone decided to tell him not to curse in press interviews, this will have to make up for it. ;)

This might be the perfect combination of roles and my loves. ACK!

I hadn't thought go go and look at the character description, but now that I've read it..I LOVE THIS ROLE!

I mean, I love politics, so the idea of Jason getting to talk them makes me a big fangirly pile of goo.

It really is DISGUSTINGLY perfect for Jason. And he will NAIL it like nobody's business. I'm trying to NOT get ridiculously hopeful about this, but it's so hard.

It's HBO!! It's SPJ!! It's a perfect character for Jason. It's potential Emmy-fodder. This could be huge for him!!!!

AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, he can be quiet and reserved, but smart when the time comes for it. Just like I know he can do in person. *bounces*

Plus, there's the HBO and SJP side which just makes me happy. Plus, the book was pretty sexy, so I'm sure that's part of this, too.

From the reviews I've read, the book wasn't sexy so much as it was scandalous and trashy, with Cutler talking about getting high and drunk or selling herself for anal sex with powerful political figures.

But SJP has said that it's "very loosely" based on the book and it's supposed to be without the raunch and mostly about women trying to make it in D.C.

I read the book in college, and for the life of me I can't remember how sexy it was, but now I want to track it down to re-read.

Yeah, I saw that it's loosely based on that (mostly because I don't think Culter is looking for more direct press with the lawsuits she's got from the book.)

I don't quite see the comedic appeal of the setting yet, but you know me, I will watch anything with Jason in it.

I've never read the book, so I don't know anything about it, but I do recall an article on HBO in my Entertainment Weekly, a few weeks ago and I think they mentioned this show. So, I'm going to dig it up and re-read.

Oh, may I'm so excited. HBO promos and promo shots!!!!!

The news JUST came out this morning, LOL! The JDoh fandom is pretty much going insane right now. Filming begins in February, I think.

(My only wish would be that it was Showtime and that the show would be paired with SDoaCG and then we'd see Billie and Jason promo'd together. Ah well.)

That role sounds tailor-made for him!! I don't want to subscribe to HBO, though, dammit! It already pay almost $100/month for cable as it is. I'm gonna have to do some serious thinking about switching my cable plan so I can afford it. I must have JD on my TV!! I don't care that it's centered around politics, which I hate, I love JD and he deserves good things. I hope this show lasts and makes him a star!

Okay, okay, cautious optimism here! Because it's yet to be shot, and -- more importantly -- yet to be picked up, I am holding my breath.

But man, it sounds so, so good for him!!!!!

LOL. I have a few icons that are perfect for the occasion such as this! Call me an icon optimist! :)

This was posted on our JD board, via the dreaded TWOP:

And from TWoP:

I work for HBO.

The series is a half hour come-drama produced by SJP and will be airing next year.

All the buzz around here is that it looks great so far.

Weeeeee!!!! (*Cautiously, of course, lol*).

Hopefully, he'll break out bigger than VK though, because I've watched 3 eps of MM (I just could not get into it), and read ONTD and EW and I have no clue who VK is.

But this is HBO. This is SPJ. This sounds like a PERFECT role for him. And, finally, this IS JFDoh!! This could FINALLY be it for him. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
