I left work way early and am home today (which sucks because I really didn't want to miss work at all, but my brain is mush and I need my brain to NOT be mush to learn my job, so ... yeah home -- feverish, achy, fun). In order to not sleep non-stop (which I want to do), I did watch Monday night TV and I have some new friends via the [livejournal.com profile] going_my_way friending meme, so an intro ...

Me. I live in Georgia with 3 cats, my family leaves 15 minutes away and that's lovely. I just got a new job as a 9-1-1 dispatcher/call-taker and the training process is VERY LONG! I've been training for a month-and-a-half now and I still have a long way to go. Man, do those officers speak quickly, and all of the codes and signals. It's totally another language (thus the whole, needing my brain to work, and not be mush).

Fandom-wise, my main fandom right now is probably The Big Bang Theory featuring [livejournal.com profile] sheldon_penny (wonderful little fandom growing in leaps and bounds). Second is Doctor Who, second because while I do love the show, my main thrust is Doctor/Rose and Rose is, erm, gone. Plus, I despise Steven Moffat as a writer/producer, so once RTD's specials are over with, I'm, alas, done with Who. It's not Matt Smith, really. It's Moffat, plain and simple. Ah well. On the subject of Who, I know it's slow-going, but I'm doing extensive rewatch-reviews of almost all of the Rose-related episodes, plus my favorite episodes period. ExpandWhere I'm at with those ... ) Oh, and check out header -- I adore Billie Piper, she's my current favorite actress. My favorite actor is Jason Dohring known best from Veronica Mars and Moonlight. He has a possible new show next fall -- Body Politic -- go Jason!!!

I rarely write about real life in my lj, it's mostly fandom-thoughts, movie and (MOSTLY) television reviews/thoughts. Welcome! :D

Now, mostly brief Monday night TV thoughts ...

I just had what I hope is a completely cracked out theory that has no chance of actually happening about the last Who special based on the latest spoiler, but ties into bunches of other rumors about what's to come ...

As I've stated elsewhere, once I finished season two of New Who, I was going to rewatch and review what I call my "Her Name was Rose" collection (click here for the full list of episodes). I know it's been over two months since I did the rewatch-review for Bad Wolf, but with real life happenings and, more especially, the knowledge that after this there was no more Nine, no more Christopher Eccleston, I've been delaying doing this one.

Oh heck, it has nothing to do with real life, I just didn't want to say goodbye to Nine yet. *Sigh* I do adore the Ninth Doctor so. I've been a fan of Eccleston for years, but this show, his performance as the Doctor made me absolutely love him. *Double sigh* But here we are, at last ... Expand'The Parting of the Ways' ... Someone nominated my story -- My Doctor -- for the Children of Time Awards. Wow. That's so incredibly sweet. My first fic, and one I was so nervous about writing, let alone posting. Oh, this is just awesome. Aww, I feel happy.
arabian: (Dr Who (9))
[livejournal.com profile] rynne put up a whole bunch of D/R quotes -- go there now! -- but, oh Julie Gardner, I love you so! This part of these were my two favorites simply because the first highlighted (a) my long-held belief that yes, damnit! Rose LOVED Nine and (b) it's got a little Eccleston plug, and the second one because ... yes, LOOK AT THAT SMILE!!

JG, on Rose in "The Christmas Invasion"
Rose, of course, was suspicious, because she absolutely adored, loved Christopher Eccleston's Doctor. [cut to scene of Rose crying in Jackie's arms in TCI.] So, she had to fall in love with him again ...
JG, re: "The Stolen Earth":
But Russell T Davies is just a bad man. We've waited for so many seasons for Rose to finally find the Doctor--it's that amazing smile, I think, that Billie has, a big close up when she first sees him that kind of says everything.

Just read a sweet, lovely little story by [livejournal.com profile] butterfly called "Were He Not Romeo Called." If you haven't read it, go forth and do so. It's got some humor in it, a dash of romance, and a bittersweet moment or two. Rose and the Doctor are perfectly in category. It's basically fluff with depth. And beautifully written at that.

Were He Not Romeo
arabian: (Dr Who)
as in DOCTOR/Rose, not Nine/Rose, or Ten/Rose, but Doctor/Rose. I've never read Eight/Rose fic, etc., but I think I may now. Someone put up a lovely Eleven, Rose/TenII story, and of course, Rose while interested in Eleven, was all smooshy and devoted to TenII, and for Eleven, Rose was basically a beloved, but faded, memory. And it bothered me!!!! I wanted Rose to want to be with Eleven as much as TenII. BECAUSE THEY ARE BOTH THE DOCTOR, DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!

So, yeah, wow, I REALLY, REALLY am a Rose/Doctor girl. Doesn't matter the number, as long as it's Rose and it's the Doctor. I really thought that I was just for Nine/Rose and Ten/Rose because I'd seen Rose onscreen (as Rose) with Nine and Ten. But nope, I'm apparently for Rose and any Doctor, no matter the form.

I've become quite interested in getting all kinds of drawings of Doctor/Rose in the last few days. I've found one of Nine/Rose, one of Ten/Rose, and three of TenII/Rose. And I know -- if only through the comics and storybook -- there have GOT to be more out there.

So, linkie?
arabian: (Dr Who (Ten))
On December 25, 2007, Murray Gold introduced "The Stowaway" during the Doctor Who Christmas special, "Voyage of the Damned," and many a Doctor/Rose shipper believed that the lyrics represented the Doctor's yearning for Rose. I was thinking on them tonight and came to the conclusion that if they were indeed intended to represent the Doctor's state of mind, well, he kept his promise.

ExpandBeg, borrow or steal, I'll find a way to be with my lover next Christmas day ... )

I was trying to get my 2-year old niece to tell me that she loved me. Succeeded, and then we moved on to further confirmation about all family members because she says "yeah" very cutely. So I repeat all immediate family member names and she says "yeah" (cutely). Then she says "who else?" So I start throwing random family names out. Finally I say my brother's name -- the uncle she's never met and I realize she just wants to acknowledge her love for any name I throw at her.

So I ask "Do you love Billie Piper?" She says, "yeah." I ask "Do you love Nine and Rose?" Her response: "Yeah." "Do you love Ten and Rose?" Predictably, "yeah." Then I ask: "Who do you love more: Nine and Rose or Ten and Rose?" And she says without missing a beat, "Ten and Rose." I laughed and said, "Ah, so you're a Tennant girl?" And she says, "I Tennant girl," clear as day.

Sorry, Chris.

Hehehe, so I have a Billie Piper google alerts and I got this one. Hehehe.
Sure, the Doctor (version II, anyway) eventually got to tell Rose Tyler he loved her, and they shared a nice smooch in Doctor Who's season 4 finale. But if you watched the Confidential, you know that actors David Tennant and Billie Piper provided much sweatier minutes of mackage than the two-second bit that was deemed appropriate for the kiddies. (I suggest watching it in slow motion for maximum shortness of breath.)

Hehehehe.

Note: Mulder/Scully fans, there's also an ultra-hot kiss between the duo from Fight the Future that was recently released on the Blu-Ray release of FTF included (and is what inspired) the article (not beddable).

So as a celebration for getting the new job (yay!), my sister took me out to Australia, the new Baz Lurhmann movie starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. As I've adored every Baz Lurhmann film I've ever seen, and Kidman and Jackman are two of my absolute favorite actors (top ten material for years), I was very, very looking forward to it. However, reviews were mixed so I was a little worried. (Spoilers below the cut.)

ExpandNot epic, my ass! )

Non-spoiler comments: I ADORED it!

- If you love Baz Lurhmann, go see this movie.
- If you love Nicole Kidman, GO see this movie.
- If you love Hugh Jackman, go see this move.
- If you love epic romances, go see this movie.
- If you like sweeping dramas beautifully written and directed, go see this movie.

But be warned! It's about two and a half-hour long. But so worth it!

I've been meaning to write a post up about why I believe that Ten is happy now despite the devastating end to his arc in "Journey's End." I finally got around to doing so. (Note: I didn't touch on the events with Donna because I think that it simply boils down to the fact that while the Doctor misses her terribly, he's very happy that she's alive with that potential in her to be amazing still.)
