arabian: (Dr Who (9) - WTF)
I just had what I hope is a completely cracked out theory that has no chance of actually happening about the last Who special based on the latest spoiler, but ties into bunches of other rumors about what's to come ...

Hee! Point and laugh at the crack!! )
arabian: (Dr Who - Chris/Rusty/Billie)
an RTD-extremist, but what can I say? It's how I feel.

[livejournal.com profile] principia_coh posted some growing Doctor Who speculation in her lj, and since I think I totally differ in opinion from everyone else who posted on the subject, I thought I'd discuss it more in length here.

Anyhoo, all speculation at this point, so who knows.
arabian: (Bad Wolf)
As I've stated elsewhere, once I finished season two of New Who, I was going to rewatch and review what I call my "Her Name was Rose" collection (click here for the full list of episodes). I know it's been over two months since I did the rewatch-review for Bad Wolf, but with real life happenings and, more especially, the knowledge that after this there was no more Nine, no more Christopher Eccleston, I've been delaying doing this one.

Oh heck, it has nothing to do with real life, I just didn't want to say goodbye to Nine yet. *Sigh* I do adore the Ninth Doctor so. I've been a fan of Eccleston for years, but this show, his performance as the Doctor made me absolutely love him. *Double sigh* But here we are, at last ... 'The Parting of the Ways' ... Specific spoilers for series one, as well as 'Doomsday' and 'Journey's End.' )
arabian: (Dr Who (Ten))
So I *finally* watched "Voyage of the Damned." I know why I initially waited to watch it. I was skipping through series three of Who and then read a note about Billie Piper's appearance in "Partners in Crime" being a very rare BBC secret so that it shocked everyone and was like "AAAHHH! Rose!!! Must get to series four!!!"

So when I finished series three, I knew that the Christmas episode didn't really impact what happened in four, so yeah, that's why I passed it over. Now I had intended to go back and watch it once I was caught up (mid-season four), but I had gotten more and more into the Doctor/Rose relationship, and I read not so nice commentary about the episode and Astrid/Kylie Minogue. Then I saw brief flashes here and there of the interaction between the Doctor and Astrid that my newly Doctor/Rose-loving heart rebelled against. So yeah, didn't watch it forever.

Well, I finally did. The verdict? )

ETA: A few more thoughts upon reading/responding to comments. )

I've been meaning to write a post up about why I believe that Ten is happy now despite the devastating end to his arc in "Journey's End." I finally got around to doing so. (Note: I didn't touch on the events with Donna because I think that it simply boils down to the fact that while the Doctor misses her terribly, he's very happy that she's alive with that potential in her to be amazing still.)

Why Ten is happy, damnit! )
arabian: (Dr Who (9) - BT)
As I've stated elsewhere, once I finished season two of New Who, I was going to rewatch and review what I call my "Her Name was Rose" collection (click here for the full list of episodes). Nearing the home stretch of series one, here we go with number eleven, "Boom Town."

I've found one aspect in which I prefer Moffat's episodes to Rusty's. The former's take me an hour, two tops to write. It took me six for this one. Man! (Spoilers for the upcoming two-parters as well as 'Journey's End.') )

For quick reference: Handporn! Time!! )
arabian: (River + Morrisey's Doctor)
Seriously.

[livejournal.com profile] shinyopals asked for an icon featuring River Song and Morrisey's Doctor from the upcoming Christmas special. ( ---> That's it, right there.)

Read the totally au-crack shipping behind the cut. )
arabian: (Dr Who (Ten))
Joining the chorus of joy and squee over the Doctor Who Children in Need special/Xmas preview thingie.

Watch it! Watch it!! )

ETA: You know in all of my moaning about series five under Moffat, I haven't forgotten, but I've rather let it the realization of it fall to the wayside that we still get five more Rusty episodes. YAY!
arabian: (I ♥ RTD)
I generally don't recommend fics or vids on my lj because I don't have that huge of a list of any one fandom on my flist and with regards to Doctor Who, almost everyone on my flist who is a Who fan has undoubtedly already seen the recommendation. However, in this case, I could not NOT do it.

[livejournal.com profile] humansrsuperior, who has made some marvelous other vids in the past, just posted a new video called "Shine" that is basically an ode to the last four series of Doctor Who, aka, Rusty's Who. And it is AMAZING! If you are a fan of the show, you will find yourself smiling, near-laughing, near-tears while watching this video. It just so beautifully captures the joy, the wonder, the beauty, the fun, the awesomeness of Russell T. Davies' Who. So if you haven't seen it, go and do so now. It's MARVELOUS!

As I've stated elsewhere, once I finished season two of New Who, I was going to rewatch and review what I call my "Her Name was Rose" collection (click here for the full list of episodes). I've done the first nine episodes of series one; here comes number ten, the second of a two-parter.

The Last of Moffat for me ... ever! )

Doctor Who casting news.

I've had a crazy, intense week; it's not over yet, but I HAD to post about this.Read more... )

Saw this at [livejournal.com profile] dreaamer's journal and it confirmed my belief about something in the finale, so yay!

Scene behind the cut, plus much rambling from me. )

So I got Torchwood from Netflix (the first three discs) and just finished watching the first episode.

Quick (yes, really, I mean it erm, sorta) thoughts behind the cut.

Spoilers for TW episode one (naturally), plus vague spoilers about a story point for two characters, as well as character-spoilage for someone on the HBO-series, 'Rome.' )

I am mostly unspoiled for this, so PLEASE DO NOT PUT SPOILERS IN THE COMMENTS!!! Thanks :)

ETA: Vague relationship spoilers in the comments.
arabian: (I ♥ RTD)
So, I've been convinced for a while now that the Doctor and Rose were definitely having sex in S2. (I even wrote a post up that referenced a few of my points behind the cut, but I was asking other opinions, I wasn't convinced myself. Now I am.) I know, I know ... it's Doctor Who, that doesn't happen on Who, or I know, I know ... the way they kissed in "Journey's End" proved that it hadn't happened before. Well, as for the latter, there's a perfectly reasonable explanation to that kiss that still makes the theory that they were going at it like bunnies work. As for it being Who, that's why it's kinda there in between the lines, because it's technically a "kid's show" and there are purists who don't want to go there. But there are definitely signs that point to that kind of relationship between them.

Follow the signs ... )

As I've stated elsewhere, once I finished season two of New Who, I was going to rewatch and review what I call my "Her Name was Rose" collection (click here for the full list of episodes). Okay, here goes another one, episode four, "Aliens of London." I think I've mentioned this in a few comments, but let me put this out here now, even though this is the first of a two-parter, I'm still only doing one episode at a time, and that will be the case for all of the two-parters.

I want to preface this one by saying that I do just so love this show. I was just grinning and giddy as I lay down to watch it and was actually pulled out of actually watching it a few times in the first couple of minutes out of sheer giddiness that I was watching my Who. Then I sent a fervent prayer up to the Who gods: Moffat, please don't destroy my show. Then I rewound to watch what I had missed. Ahem, moving on ... "Aliens of London." (Oh, and just a forewarning, no caps or clips in this one.)

Read on for what I really, really don't think we'll be a ridiculously long post. Really. Spoilers for 'Boomtown,' and casting for a few future episodes (not named). Oh, and a brief mention of the semi-villains in 'Partners in Crime.' Also, 'Torchwood' casting. )

There's this mini Doctor Who episode that came out (roughly 8 minutes) that's cheesy and just hysterical. And I loved it!!! I'm so going to miss RTD. I know some in fandom have issues with him, but I do love him. He gave me a new Doctor in the wonderful form of Christopher Eccleston AND David Tennant. He gave me Rose and Donna Noble. He gave me the Doctor/Rose relationship. He gave me some fabulous episodes and a show that I adore. I love him. Anyhoo, here it is:

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] unfolded73 for bringing this to my attention.

Happy Doctor -- Rose-related -- thoughts vaguely inspired by the mini-ep. )

As I've stated elsewhere, once I finished series two of New Who, I was going to rewatch and review what I call my "Her Name was Rose" collection (click here for the full list of episodes). Right then, so I finished "Doomsday" last night, and rewatched "Rose" tonight ... so here are my thoughts on it. I may do this for all of the episodes, or just specific ones. It depends on my mood.

Anyhoo, read on, behind the cut (includes discussion of the why of S3/4 traveling companions). )
