You know, I hadn't planned on watching VM totally anymore. No siree, I was just going to watch the Logan scenes and ff through everything else because I was tired of it. And that's what I did on Tuesday, and then I deleted the episode. I downloaded it, true, but only to cut the Logan scenes out to save for myself. And then I deleted that episode. I kept wavering before I did all of this thinking I should watch it, but then decided, no, I won't. I'm too hurt; I'm tired of getting hurt by a tv show. But then people were really liking it, but no, I won't. I won't watch it. And then I did the chemistry for the breakdown and saw a potential vision of what Rob Thomas has planned for Logan/Veronica and damned if it didn't all make sense, even in light of the upcoming spoilers. So I re-downloaded the damn thing and watched it. And whaddya know? I liked it, I really liked it. Anyhoo, thus the late, late review.

So thoughts behind the cut )

Hah, the original sentence before the cut was "Some quick thoughts ..." And then I finished typing it all up. Quick? Double hah.

Here's the latest batch of my Logan/Veronica analysis as seen (or will be seen) in The LoVe Shack Breakdowns for the new arc.

Now I REALLY want that five-year arc, damnit! )

According to a poster on The LoVe Shack regarding the writer's, (actually) the editor (who said it) podcast for the last episode of VM.

Behind the cut because it does allude to an event in the episode. )

I. have. no. words.

Listen to this song on repeat.

Thanks Grey's Anatomy, I'd convinced myself to NOT listen to this song non-stop knowing what was coming in 3.12, but nooooooo, you had to use it last night and remind me of the pain!

Snow Patrol: Make This Go On Forever lyrics behind the cut. )

I'm going to be honest. I don't want a sugar-coated pulled out of his ass reunion based on an epiphany, but if it's that or Veronica with Piz or alone, I'll take it. I'm sorry, lame-ass or not, if this is the last season and all signs point there, I want Logan and Veronica together when the final "executive producer/Rob Thomas" shows up on my screen for this television show. We can all work it out that because Veronica took him back (I don't like it, but if they do get back together, it will be seen on the show as, she took him back) then it means that this time they actually work on those problems and there won't be canon to contradict it. Bottom-line, however it goes down, I want Logan and Veronica to be together when the show ends. I'd prefer something that's earned, but I'll take something similar to S2 if it at least means they're together when this show goes off into the horizon, because if they're not, then it does make the last three years completely pointless. And that might hurt most of all.

Title: To Catch a Diary Thief
Characters/Pairing: Logan, Veronica, Wallace, Troy, Cherry Winslow (OC), Annabelle Bonham (OC), Logan/Veronica
Rating: NC-17 overall; this chapter, NC-17
Word Count: 4,009
Summary: Veronica works on the case of the stolen diary, unaware that Logan and Wallace are independently working on it as well. Throughout the investigation, Veronica and Logan are coming to terms with their relationship.
Spoilers: References sprinkled throughout to events in seasons one and two. The only nod to season three is that she's working at the library; she definitely still has the LeBaron because I hate the Saturn. It is sooo not Veronica Mars.
Timeline: I conceived of this story before season three started and this is the way I had hoped Veronica would be with Logan, so although this story takes place around early season three, it is not canon beyond the end of season two. So, yes, Wallace's roommate does not exist in my universe.
Disclaimer: Rob Thomas, Warner Brothers, The CW, they own ... not I. This is just for fun, not profit.
Notes: (1) I would like to give huge thanks to my group of amazing betas who reread chapters multiple times and did so much to make this story a thousand times better than it would have been without their generous help. I am so very, very grateful for all you've done: Sowell, Polartruckin (Belinda), JaneDtwo and SeluciaV (Alli), you are all beyond awesome. (2) ~italics~ indicate what would be Veronica's voiceovers on the show. (3) Like Veronica Mars, I am fond of titles that are pun-laden and/or derived from pop culture sources. The story title is a take on the 1955 romantic comedy starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, To Catch a Thief. All chapter titles will be similarly pun and/or pop-culture related. If you're so inclined, guess the reference.

Chapter 2: Bring It On )
arabian: (Sunny Side Up)
Despite all of it's flaws ... do you think that Veronica Mars is still a good show? I do. With the exception of a handful of shows (Rome, Brothers & Sisters, Ugly Betty, The Office, 30 Rock), I think VM is still one of the better shows on the air ... at least for me.

Here's the latest batch of my Logan/Veronica analysis as seen (or will be seen) in The LoVe Shack Breakdowns for the new arc. I know I added caps to this one last week, and I tried to do so this week, but (a) it was kicking my ass it was taking soooooo long and (b) with this many scenes written up, caps just seemed like overkill. So, just the text! :D

Sigh. Why can't it always be like this? )
arabian: (Soft Veronica)
(From vm-caps.com) I dunno why, going through the caps, this one just struck me and I love it.

And it's not even Logan! )

Chapter 1: Sorry Seems to Be the Easiest Word )
arabian: (Reunited)
Woohoo, a new batch of my Logan/Veronica analysis as seen (or will be seen) in The LoVe Shack Breakdowns for the new arc. I decided to do something a little different (a day or two later, but there it is) and I think I'm going to do this from now on. Instead of just the analysis, I'll be doing a mini-picspam to illustrate my points throughout the text. So enjoy. (Caps from vm-caps.com)

If it flows; it if makes sense ... I'm a happy camper. )

Thoughts on the new (finally!!!) VM episode below the cut. You know I wish I wasn't so addicted, but I am and I am just sooooo this show's bitch. Seriously. I can rant and rave and dislike a series of episodes (which hasn't really happened, a whole series that is, more like one or two and then a couple more with scenes/things I dislike), but a really good one comes along and I'm just so forgiving and la la la, it was great!

So this show's bitch. )

ETA more thoughts )
arabian: (ATttD - Sorry)
This struck me the other night and I may be totally off-base, but I thought it was an interesting angle. There were things that were glossed over in season one of Veronica Mars that we pushed aside because the overall product was so good. Other things were glossed over in season two, but since the overall product wasn't as good, we called Rob Thomas on it. Same for season three. Now, I got to thinking about how often we hear of how many scenes are cut to make time. And how often Thomas gives explanations for things in interviews that he wasn't able to get to in the show. Then there is how the relationships that turn a larger portion of the viewership off are played out and it all added up to the realization for me that Rob Thomas is a novelist.

I read both of his books and they were good. They were really good. There were twists and there were some leaps, but they worked in the context of the written word. Even though we didn't get the character motivation of every character, the situations set up, the characters we did get insight into to sold what was going on throughout the rest of the story. There weren't happy ends, there were real-life endings and they were the resolution to well-written, well-characterized, well-plotted novels in the cases of both Rats Saw God and Slave Day.

I wonder if some of the issues viewers are experiencing with the show can be based on the fact that Rob Thomas is a novelist and perhaps approaches each season as a separate book. Season one was contained and it was the introduction of these characters and this situation. Once Veronica laid down on her bed in Leave it to Beaver, her story in this "book" was effectively over. She had done what she had sought to do in "chapter one" a.k.a. The Pilot.

I've been thinking about Rob Thomas' consistent denials that Veronica has changed -- and we'll just set aside the fact that growth is actually good for a character for this discussion -- and something struck me the other night. He may be right for the most part.

Yes, she's much more apt to quip and rather inappropriately, but that can be said for most of the characters as the writing staff has clearly gone quip (and rather inappropriately) crazy. But changed overall? I'm thinking of the fact that while he watches the show (I'm sure), he already has in his mind how it's supposed to play out because he's written or read the script in all of its incarnations. Which leaves us with one glaring factor: The actor.

You know, 'Fidelity.' The song that played over the final Logan/Veronica scene in 3.03 Wichita Linebacker. I mostly like it, but I really don't like the heart, art, art, art repetitive crap that plays through the song. But I put up with it because it's a FABULOUS Logan/Veronica scene. But now, everywhere I turn, I hear FIDELITY! I'm watching last week's Brothers and Sisters and I hear 'Fidelity.' I'm watching The Colbert Report and during a commerical, I hear 'Fidelity' in an ad for Regina Spektor's CD. Now, I'm watching a TV show tonight (I won't say which) and whaddya know!? Fucking 'Fidelity' is playing.

The universe wants me to either positively adore or despise this song with a passion. I haven't figured out which yet.

These are the ones released so far and uhm, weird. (Kinda cool that they started out with two of Logan and Veronica each. Check 'em out behind the cut.)

The RB ones are okay, but the promo-based ones? No comment. )

If you're on my flist and watch VM, please take the few seconds it will take to vote. I'd really, really appreciate it.
